Install the Eventually Squarespace extension
Installing the Eventually extension is a separate flow from connecting Squarespace for checkout. The extension lets Eventually place a script on your site and show your primary calendar on one page you choose. You can start the install from Squarespace without an Eventually account, and only owners and admins manage the extension after joining a team.
Before you install
You need admin access to the Squarespace site to approve the installation. You do not need an Eventually account to start.
If you already have an Eventually account, sign in with it after the approval instead of creating a duplicate account.
The extension is installed from Squarespace, not from the Eventually dashboard.
This is not the same as connecting your site for checkout. Connect your Squarespace site is the flow that lets attendees buy tickets through Squarespace Commerce. The extension is a separate authorization that places a script on your site, and the two setups are independent: connecting checkout does not install the extension, and installing the extension does not connect checkout.
The Eventually panel is a different setup. It adds an admin-only panel for managing events from inside Squarespace admin, and you install it separately (see Install and connect the Eventually panel in Squarespace). The extension in this article is installed through Squarespace and powers the public calendar page on your site.
Install the extension
Everyone starts from Squarespace. How the install finishes depends on whether you already have an Eventually account.
Starting without an Eventually account
In Squarespace, find the Eventually extension and click Install on your site.
Approve the extension when Squarespace shows the permissions. The approval includes a site-script permission, which lets Eventually place a script on your site.
Complete the account screen that follows: enter your name, email, and password. Finishing setup creates your account and team, signs you in, and registers the extension on your site. Each approval is single-use: if you submit a second approval while the install is underway, for example by signing in to Eventually from another browser tab or creating your account that way, that approval is already used, and you sign in to your account or restart the install to finish. Once the extension is authorized, you land on your dashboard with the setup drawer open instead of the Calendars checklist. The Connect your site step in the drawer is already marked complete, and the remaining steps walk you through describing your first event and putting your calendar on a Squarespace page. See Finish setup on your dashboard.
Starting while signed in to Eventually
Approve the extension in Squarespace, then confirm the approved connection on the account screen in Eventually. Only owners and admins can confirm it: a regular team member is refused and directed to ask an owner or admin. If your team already connects a Squarespace site, start with the next section instead.
If the Squarespace site is already connected to an Eventually team, approving the install adds you to that team: as an admin when the team has an owner, or as an owner when it does not. The team owners receive an email notification.
After you confirm, you land on the dashboard setup drawer when your onboarding is not finished. If you already finished onboarding, you continue through the Calendars area instead.
A Squarespace approval that is not completed within 15 minutes expires, and you start the install again.
Signing in to an existing account during the install
If you approve the extension while signed out and then sign in to an Eventually account that already belongs to a team, Eventually does not create a second team for you. What happens next depends on how the approved store lines up with your team's current connection:
The approved store is already connected to another team. Eventually shows a Join {team}? confirmation that names that team (the team's name appears in place of {team}). Confirming joins that team: as an admin when the team has an owner, or as an owner when it does not. The team owners receive an email notification.
Your team is connected to a different site. You land on the stay-or-switch choice described in the next section. Keeping the current connection leaves your existing site connected, and the completed approval is not reused if you visit the install page again later.
Your team has no live site connection. The approved store connects to your team. If you reinstall the same store while signed in on that team, the install completes on that team.
Starting when your team already connects a Squarespace site
If you start the install while signed in as an owner or admin, and your team already connects a Squarespace site, the install page shows Your team is connected to followed by your site's name. You can stay with that site or connect a different one:
Stay with your site continues the Squarespace approval for the site your team already uses, with that site preselected in Squarespace. The page uses this choice even when the extension is already installed and you are approving it again.
Connect a different site opens the Squarespace approval without a site preselected, so you pick the site you want.
Cancel returns you to your dashboard.
When Squarespace approves a site other than the one your team uses, Eventually shows a Switch to confirmation page that names the new site and lists what switching changes. Confirm only when you intend to move the team to the newly approved site: choosing Switch to moves the team's connection there and clears the setup tied to the previous site, including its calendar page, cart settings, site details, sync state, and product or image links. Choosing Keep discards the approval and leaves the existing connection unchanged. When the person confirming the switch is an admin rather than an owner, the team owners receive an email identifying the switch.
What you see after installing
The Calendars page shows a six-item setup checklist and a Primary Calendar Page row with the page field ready for input. This checklist is the path for sellers who already finished dashboard onboarding; a first-run seller lands on the dashboard setup drawer instead. The checklist items are:
Squarespace connected
Your store page is set up
Primary calendar chosen
Primary calendar page set
Extension live on your site
Your events are live at your page address (for example,
/events-calendar)
Teams that have not installed the extension see the Calendars page exactly as before, with no checklist or page row.
Next step: designate your page
Eventually never creates or renames a Squarespace page, so you create the page yourself in Squarespace, then enter its address as the Primary Calendar Page in Eventually. That setup, including the checklist states and what each one means, is covered in Set up your Primary Calendar Page in this collection.
