Billing & Payments

Add a new card during reseller checkout

When you buy a Squarespace site or domain through your Eventually reseller account, you can add a new payment card directly in the purchase flow if you do not already have one saved. The card is collected inline during checkout and saved for future billing.

Only team owners and admins can complete reseller purchases and add payment cards. Members without admin access will see a permission error when attempting to place an order or save a card.

When the new-card field appears

The card entry section appears on the Confirm step of the buy flow only when you have no saved payment method on file and Stripe is enabled for your account. If you already have a saved card, the purchase uses that card instead and the inline card field is not shown.

Build an order from multiple searches

When you buy domains through the reseller checkout, you can add domains from several searches to the same order. Changing the TLD filter or running a new search on the Pick tab does not remove domains you already selected. The Confirm step keeps every selected domain with its term selector and total due today, so you can combine results from different searches into one purchase.

This applies to both standalone domain purchases and site-and-domain bundle purchases.

How to add a new card

  1. Start a reseller purchase from Settings → Domains & Sites. Choose Buy a domain or Build a site.

  2. Complete the wizard steps up to the Confirm step:

    • For domains: PickAccountContactsConfirm

    • For site bundles: DomainAccountContactsConfirm

  3. On the Confirm step, look for the Card section if no saved payment method is available.

  4. Enter your card details in the Stripe card field.

  5. Review the order total and agreements, then click the buy button. While the card is being validated and saved, the button text changes to Saving card…

  6. Once the card is saved and the order is submitted, the purchase completes using that payment method.

What happens on the Account step

Before you reach the Confirm step, the Account step resolves your team’s Squarespace account. You enter a name and email, accept the Squarespace agreements, and continue. If the email already belongs to a Squarespace account, the wizard automatically bounces into Squarespace OAuth and resumes with your cart intact. If the email is new, it provisions a new Squarespace customer. You only enter payment details after the account is resolved.

Teams with an existing connected Squarespace account skip the Account step entirely. The pinned account shows as a read-only Squarespace badge in the wizard header, and the flow continues directly from Pick to Contacts.

One Squarespace account is pinned per team after the first purchase. It is shown read-only on every later purchase and cannot be changed during checkout.

What happens after the card is added

The card you enter is saved to your account and used for the current purchase. It is also stored for future billing, including yearly renewals for domains and subscription charges for site bundles. You do not need to re-enter the card for subsequent reseller purchases.

Who can use this flow

Reseller purchases and card-collection actions are restricted to team owners and admins. If you are a team member without admin access, you will see You don't have permission to do that. when attempting to place an order or save a card. Contact your team owner to upgrade your role or handle the purchase on your behalf.

How the customer name is determined

Reseller purchases create a Squarespace customer record from the signed-in user's Eventually profile. If your profile has a last name saved, that name is used for customer provisioning. If your profile last name is blank — for example, because you signed up with a single-word name — the app falls back to the registrant contact's last name from the checkout form.

The registrant last name in the form is required, so it serves as the fallback source when the profile is blank. This applies to both domain-only purchases and site-and-domain bundle purchases, which share the same provisioning step.

If the card cannot be saved

If there is a problem collecting or saving your card, you will see an inline error message. Common causes include:

  • The card details were not completed before submitting. Make sure the card field is filled.

  • The Stripe payment form failed to load. Refresh the page and try again.

  • The card was declined by the issuer. Try a different card or contact your bank.

If the error persists, contact Eventually support with the exact error text and the page you were on (Domains or Sites).
